Women flock to Aintree Ladies' Day

When thousands of people come together to share a passion, magic happens.

This is a local story about a charity event where women dress up in eccentric outfits in an attempt to get noticed and with some luck start a new trend. The racing itself is almost a distraction from the grandeur that comes with this second day of the three day festival. Because of the good wheather expectations about 50.000 people are expected to show. Not only does this 3 days of racing come with a lot of charity. The most fashionable person, judged by a jury, will win 5.000 pounds and a professional photo shoot!

I am a big fan of these kind of festivals. Though I am not a great fan of horse racing; it seems as though this festival has become about more than just the horses. Do not get me wrong, I am not big on fashion either, on the contrary. However these types of events have a certain humanistic charm about them. They are a source of positivity with athletes visiting hospitals and so many people coming together to share their, or others, creations. I can have nothing but respect for the people who organise such events on an annual bases. I only hope that they got a chance to enjoy their own festival.
